Week 9 P90X Blackout
P90X Week 9 Summary
P90X Week 9 went well – was sore getting back into it – but truly, what was I expecting?!?! Thankfully, my muscle memory with P90x let me jump back in to right where I was regarding the repetitions and the weights. Still able to do all of P90X AbRipperX, including the bonus Mason Twists at the end and only pausing AbRipperX twice to catch my breath and stretch out my abs. New workouts this week, so it took a little bit to find the proper weight and reps to take me to failure, but I think its dialed in now for the next time.
P90X Week 10 Plan
I’ve made 2 decisions for this round of P90X starting this week and going through to the end of the round. The first decision is that weekly pictures will be going into a “blackout period”, meaning the next pictures you see will be my AFTER pictures! I will still be taking weekly P90X pictures, but just for me.
The second decision is to strap my BodyBugg back on to see my calorie burn. I love and hate this little device! I love the information it gives me but hate it because, between my crappy metabolism, having a desk job, and working from home, in a mid-west climate – I don’t move nearly enough! BodyBugg also has a food logging program, so I can log my P90X “portion control approach” foods and BodyBugg will do all the calculations, including macronutrients. I’ve found that my food and my calorie intake “looks” good! My calorie burn/expenditure however is LOW.
P90X Perspective
I could sit here and piss and moan all day long about how it sucks that I have a slow metabolism and I’m too busy to do doubles OR I can shut up and TWEAK what I do have. Information is Power! Honestly, it is probably a difference of about 300-400 calories extra that I need to burn per day. I burned 205 calories in 30 minutes of P90X Back & Biceps today (had to bag the rest of it because of more work meetings) and then, before dinner, I burned another 204 calories in 20 minutes of TurboJam’s 20 Minute Workout. In true baby steps fashion, I’ll do a little bit more each day until I find that sweet spot.
Am I frustrated that I’m not further along in P90X than I want to be? Yes and No. Yes, because I had the additional tools and didn’t use them earlier. And No, because at the end of this round of P90X, I don’t just “stop” working out! This is a LIFESTYLE! Bring It, my friends!!
